Hey there, future Traverse City visitor!
I was born and raised in Traverse City, and as your host, I'm all about sharing the hidden gems that make TC special. And trust me, The Filling Station is one you don't want to miss.
Picture this: a historic train depot transformed into a cozy brewery and pizza haven. That's the magic of The Filling Station. They brew their own craft beers right on-site, with a rotating selection that'll keep you coming back for more.
But the pizza, oh the pizza! Wood-fired and topped with fresh, local ingredients, it's the perfect pairing for their brews. Grab a seat on their patio overlooking Boardman Lake, and you've got yourself a quintessential TC experience. Have your bike with you? This brewery is right off our local TART path!
Amanda's Favorites:
Beer - Walla Walla IPA : 7.0% ABV - A blend of Great Lakes Malting Company base malts and a bit of Irish ale malt. Locally grown MI Local Chinook hops from start to finish, including eleven pounds in the dry hop. Crisp, light bodied, with a hint of resin, and distinct white grapefruit pith flavor.
Pizza - Burlington Northern - Garlic oil, roasted garlic, red onions, fresh pear, prosciutto, brie, parmesan, and topped with balsamic reduction.
The patio is heated and enclosed in cooler months, making it a family-favorite destination year-round. They even provide Playdoh to occupy your small children and we've never been able to visit without the kids wanting to visit the park or library across the tracks. I personally do not have pups but they are welcome here, too! Whether you're a beer enthusiast, pizza lover, or just looking for a unique spot to unwind, The Filling Station has it all.
So, I totally recommend adding The Filling Station to your TC itinerary to experience the local flavor firsthand!
Happy Travels,
Amanda
